Typical Intorductory Post

I have started an absurd number of random, often pointless personal blogs over the years. They've never really had a point, whether it be random travel that turned into a place to post stories. Or a daily/multi-daily blog that just had random events and responses posted there. Faux-movie reviews as a resource for job applications. A blog following my experience through my MFA program. All of these have been abandoned. This blog is not meant to join this list. I am going to use this blog for many things, first of all my own work. Perhaps a photo every now and then, but mostly excerpts of or full copies of short stories I am working on or currently submitting for publication. I am also going to use this blog as a means to help other fellow artists in Los Angeles, and perhaps around the country, by reviewing albums, exhibitions, providing interviews, links to sites, whatever it may be. If for any reason you see this blog grow into something that may actually affect people and reach them in some manner, or you're just willing to be a part of it, contact me at the info provided and I will be more than happy to work on something to feature on the site.

More than the simple target audiences and content, this blog does have some sort of a focal point of its own. This is an exploration of the America I'm interested in, the America I explore in my own work, the America I find interesting in others' work, and any combination of the above. I do truly have an interest to help those in my position. As many people in this city and around this country, I am more than aware of the challenges we face as artists these days. While the scope of the digital landscape has certainly made work far more accessible, it has also developed a new difficulty of its own, which is finding a way to set yourself apart. How do I find out if my work is more valid than the bits of artistry filling blogs, MySpace, Facebook, whatever? And if it is, how do I make sure that those interested find my work before they give up on the validity of it all overnight and just wait for Facebook and Amazon recommendations? I don't carry the delusion that I am going to solve this problem with a single-handed, free blog webpage, but I am interested in placing something out there that represents myself and those around me that I find a common ground with as an artist. So, if this interests you, follow it, check up on it regularly, and if you have something you'd love to see up here presented to the (lack of) masses they may roll through here soon, send me a message and we'll work together to put something together. Thank you for reading, and please continue to do so. All I can promise is to keep on it and do my best to never, ever, ever let you down.
